Here's our biography: (sort of)
- 10 Things You Need to Know About Lloyd United
-
- They are second only to Mr. Francis Albert Sinatra as Hoboken NJ's favorite sons, and they record in, rehearse at, and retire to Monroe Street -- four doors down from a plaque commemorating Ol' Blue Eyes' birthplace.
- They have rocking, psychedelic, wah-wah-drenched ukulele riffs, the likes of which have never before reverberated through the hallowed halls of rock history.
- The Lloyd United sound is a refined mixture of the following cultural accretion: The Madchester Baggies, Brit –pop, The Sun Sessions, Disco, Irish pub anthems, Lord Byron, Aestheticism, Guinness, and Norse Mythology.
- Grandmothers of band members have variously referred to the L.U. sound as "The cat's pajamas", "America's answer to the Smiths", "Much more trippy than Perry Como", and "Not quite as sexy as Engelbert".
- Lloyd United don't actually think they are America's answer to the Smiths, and even when playing in front of only 15 people (like that time in Little Rock, Arkansas) they feel like they've already "made it"....but hey, it's nice to be appreciated.
- Lloyd and Fen met at the same age in elementary school, as Jagger and Richards did.
- The band's latest CD Mypocketzoology [Ming Records] is a 20-track compilation of their first four EPs with bonus tracks.
- Their new release will be out by Arbor Day. It doesn't have a title yet, but it's got this song on it about the greatest soccer player in the world, George Best. It also has a sea shanty called "Frigate's Wreck", and an ethereal soundscape called "This Modern Life", where Lloyd delivers his most emotionally potent lyric and melody, while Bingo’s drums shake the heavens, Fen makes his guitar sound like Saturn's rings and Riri’s bass is as smooth as the handle of Thor’s hammer.
- The members of Lloyd United are hardly nihilists when it comes to music and art. They regularly piss off hipsters by (correctly) pointing out how Peter Gabriel-era Genesis were cooler, more subversive, and dammit, more fun than the Sex Pistols ever were!
- Lloyd United don't want to be just another rock band that slips in because the critics anoint them the latest trend du jour. They genuinely strive to give you the greatest show on earth. Come experience their live concerts and for a moment, you will kick your melancholy in the balls, and transcend into the realm of Lloyd United.
